The newest luxury resort chain by Banyan Tree opens its doors in the Caribbean country of Cuba.
A country that is quickly gaining traction amongst Southeast Asians with the thirst for wonder is Cuba, which has opened its borders far wider since Obama took office in the United States. Answering this need for more travel options for the impending flock of tourists headed towards the island nation, the award-winning hospitality group, Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts has opened Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria, as part of its newest luxury chain of hotels.
Inspired by a unique tree that grows in East India, Dhawa by Banyan Tree is a casual and contemporary full-service hotel that fuses imaginative design, absolute comfort and seamless technology into a single stay experience. The new brand aims to cater to an emerging group of design-savvy travellers who seek distinctive experiences in stylish, unique destinations.
Located in Cayo Santa Maria, a province of Villa Clara, Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria presents guests with white sandy beaches and stunning landscapes along the Caribbean ocean coupled with Cuba’s musicality of African and Spanish beats that will make for a wonderfully intriguing visit.
Apart from the usual luxury resort fare such as a wide variety of stylish rooms, restaurants, bars and pools, the new getaway also has a 545-seat theatre with complimentary daily entertainment. Meanwhile, for those more interested in the outdoors of Cuba, the resort plays host to a wide array of complimentary beach and pool activities including aqua-aerobics, dance classes, beach volleyball and kayaking. The resort also connects guests to Gaviota, a local tour operator which offers adventurous land and sea excursions to the local area and Havana, ranging from treks into the lush rainforests of Cuba to diving trips in crystal clear sea.
As the first Asian hospitality group to enter Cuba, guests can look forward to the Group’s signature hospitality features. Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria also makes it cool to care by being the only resort in the area to offer environmental conservation activities with a focus on caring for flamingo birds which gather near a small lake by the hotel’s Fuego Del Mar restaurant.
Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria is a 90-minute drive from Santa Clara International Airport. It receives flights from Havana, Toronto, Montreal, Panama City and seasonal flights from Frankfurt, Munich and Milan.
