Artworks by COLLECTIVE | Individuals will be up for sale during Urbanscapes 2017.
As a festival celebrating the creative arts, Urbanscapes is not confined to only musical acts and remix parties, but includes art of the painted kind as well. In its 2017 iteration, the festival introduces COLLECTIVE | Individuals, an exhibition by a collection of eight artist collectives with the singular aim of enriching the local arts ecosystem.
In order to further understand this interesting celebration of art, we spoke to Sharmin, the curator of COLLECTIVE | Individuals.
Fresh off their maiden stint in sunny Penang, COLLECTIVE | Individuals is the braindchild of curator Sharmin Parameswaran, Ajim Juxta of the Titikmerah collective and Xu Jen of Mampu Art Market, who have come together to explore the similarities and differences of the country’s artist collectives while still acknowledging the additional overlaying agendas and personal directions of the individual artists.
The best part – all the artworks exhibited will be up for sale! So feel free to ask for the price of any piece you like when visiting.
Slated for the entire duration of Urbanscapes 2017 and beyond from 6th until 28th May, this one-of-a-kind art exhibition takes place at the Basement of Urbanscapes House. Be prepared of the possibility of getting lost in art (quite literally).
COLLECTIVE I Individuals – the collective of artist collectives – officially kicks off today! Drop by the basement of @urbanscapes House for the cheeky as well as the thought-provoking. #collectiveindividuals #urbanscapes #urbanscapes2017 #urbanscapeshouse #art #artworks #artists #malaysianartists #artistcollective
