Of good company, good food and good coffee on a beautiful day at Thursdvys.
In recent years, Malaysians have dramatically increased their intake of caffeine as café-hopping became a culture among millennials. It’s no surprise when we see cafés with different and unique concepts growing rapidly in our respective cities.
In the friendly neighbourhood on the bounds of Kuala Lumpur, TTDI is burgeoning with cafés to serve the locals their daily dose of coffee. Among the row of shops in Lorong Datuk Sulaiman 1, lies an eye-catching café with a tooth as a logo, the Thursdvys.
You read that right, Thursdvys (pronounced Thursdays) got the name from its founder, Hadri, when many significant events took place for him on the particular day. On a fine Thursday, he dreamt of his tooth and remembered a superstition saying that ‘someone older than you will pass away if one of your top teeth falls out in a dream.’ His fear became true when his father who had been supportive of his dream to open a coffee shop, fell ill and passed away three weeks later. It was a Thursday.
With a quirky name and hipster design, the café attracts customers from near and far. Founded in 2014 by old friends Hadri and Hanif, Thursdvys stands out from other cafés with their structure and design which was inspired by the cafés in Melbourne where the former spent his days as a student.
The walls are decorated with artworks by local artists from a nearby gallery which customers can buy. The aesthetically pleasing interior décor gives off a relaxing atmosphere and ambiance with easy music playing in the background.
They offer a variety of multi-cuisine choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food include fresh salad, fish and chips, egg dishes, roasted chicken, tasty pasta and more that will make your mouth water from just reading the menu and your Instagram followers drool.
Indulge yourself in their homemade cakes and wash it down with top notch coffee, brewed and prepared by their friendly baristas.
The next time you’re in TTDI, make sure to visit Thursdvys. Unless it’s a Thursday because that is when they are closed.
