India’s leading auction house, Saffronart, organises an exclusive showcase to celebrate the timelessness of Indian jewellery.
Few may know this but the truth is many of the world’s leading jewellery designers, including Cartier, Harry Winston, and of course, Van Cleef & Arpels have looked to India as a constant source of inspiration. Furthermore, it is also a known fact that some of the most famous jewels, such as the Orlov and Hope Diamond, either originate from or trace their design roots to the South Asian nation.
Saffronart’s Commitment To Indian Jewellery
In order to reiterate India’s influence on the jewellery designs of the world, Saffronart, the country’s most reputed auction house has organised a private exhibition with the theme of Timeless Legacy of Indian Jewels. Highlighting the visual timeline of India’s design history in terms of trinkets, the exclusive showcase runs from now until 17th October 2017 in Mumbai.
Key highlights of the exhibition include a Gemset Jade Snuff Box with intricate foliage and scrolling veins in gold that comprise the outer surface of the circular jade box; a pair of Diamond and Gold Nautical Earrings set with rose cut and full cut diamonds (as appears on the featured image); and an Emerald and Diamond Necklace, with carved emeralds set in undulating gold collets in brushed finish, alternating with yellow diamonds.
For more information about the private display, please visit their official site at www.saffronart.com. Likewise, stay abreast of their auction announcements and other activities via their social media here and here.
Meanwhile, if auctions and jewelleries are your thing, check out a past emerald auction by New York-based Guernsey’s here.
