Bored with mamak? Let’s ‘lepak’ at TAPAK instead.
Conveniently located at Jalan Ampang – just a few steps from KLCC – TAPAK Urban Street Dining (or TAPAK for short) is another cool place to hang out with your friends after work. Masterminded by a group of four friends, the whole idea of TAPAK is to bring together all the food truck goodness in one place. The place is equipped with a secured compound and ample parking for those who plan to drive there. Alternatively, you can get down at KLCC LRT station and walk there.
Operating daily from 6 pm until midnight, the food offered at TAPAK range from boxing chicken, mee kolok, roti john cheese, and coconut shake to mystic mango among others, and as the spot can cater 200 patrons at one time, it is the place to be with a bunch of friends.
To make things easier for you, here are 5 food you have to try when you come to TAPAK.
1. Mac & Cheese Burger @ 8th Street Cafe
I’ve always been a fan of burgers – yeah, unhealthy but whatevs. Usually, I’m a beef person but I’ve decided to try something new. I ordered the Mac & Cheese Burger and to be honest – I have no regret at all. The burger is of a reasonable size with the generous amount of mac & cheese at the side. The patties are simply superb – a perfect compliment to the mac & cheese. For RM14, the burger is definitely worth a try.
2. Dendeng Tacos @ The Sailor Burger & Co.
Wanna try a fusion? What about dendeng tacos?
Dendeng is an Indonesian delicacy of thinly sliced grilled meat marinated with sugar and spices. It is like bak kwa or jerky, except that the meat used is either chicken or beef. On the other hand, taco is a traditional Mexican dish of tortilla and various fillings. Together, dendeng and taco make a great idea of a fusion dish at only for RM5.90.
3. Nasi Lemak Kukus with Garlic and Herb Grilled Chicken @ Borak Time
If you’re looking for something a little more substantial than snacks, you should try Borak Time for some awesome hot-off-the-grill food. For only RM10, you can have a proper meal of Nasi Lemak Kukus with Garlic and Herb Grilled Chicken.
4. Churros @ @ Churroza
Calling all churros addicts! The churros from Churroza is really hard to miss. Their churros are RM10 for a bag of seven pieces, and you can either get them in original cinnamon sugar, or with dips of caramel or chocolate sauce. Their churros are pretty amazing, with a thin crispy crust and fluffy dough inside. Don’t be surprised if you come back for more!
5. Milky Mango @ FirstOrder
Looking for something to drink? What about giving Milky Mango a try? As the name suggests, Milky Mango is a thick, creamy milkshake made of fresh mango juice. Each tall cup has chopped mango chunks on top and a spoon is given to scoop it out. Definitely worth the RM7 you pay!
So, what are you waiting for? Get your friends now and head to TAPAK!
