A hearty bowl of ramen at an affordable price.
Recently, we discovered another hidden gem in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail (TTDI) – a neighbourhood that is popular for its gastronomical offers. Quietly tucked on the second floor along Jalan Aminuddin Baki, finding this small dining space can be quite challenging. But fret not, just look for Restoran Maulana and you’ll find Anaki Boizu upstairs, next to an event space called InTun Nation.
Anaki Boizu is a dream come true of two best friends who used to work in a fine dining restaurant, so you don’t have to worry about the food quality here. Nonetheless, as a first-timer, you actually couldn’t help to have some idea judging by the interior design that was quite simple and old school. However, although the space was limited, it can comfortably fit up to 12 patrons at a time.
The list of dishes offered here was not as extensive as we thought it should be. There were 3 types of ramen available – Beef, Soft-Shell Crab, and the talk-of-the-town Grilled Chicken. We’ve heard a lot about their Grilled Chicken Ramen, so we decided to try the Soft-Shell Crab Ramen instead.
Fair warning: a bowl wasn’t enough, trust me. The Soft-Shell Crab Ramen was heavenly delicious that you don’t want to share it with anyone (in my case, I shared it with my friend – and yes – I regretted it). The springy ramen noodles were perfectly soaked with well-balanced salty and peppery chicken broth. The Soft-Shell Crab was also impeccable – lightly battered and deep fried for a couple of minutes before served fresh and hot.
Since the ramen portion was quite smaller than usual, we would suggest you to try their handmade yakitori. Made from scratch, you can choose either chicken, organs, or fish for your yakitori and trust me, you would not regret it.
Try them for yourself and be sure to be the early birds as there are only limited to 20 bowls per day.
