The UA Drive One was officially launched at MST Superstore Subang Jaya.

The highlight of the new pair of shoes is the ultimate comfort, be it on the driving range or while you’re on the green. Plus, the material used is waterproof, suitable for the Malaysian weather – for after-the-rain and a cooling game thereafter.

Golfers will benefit from the extra-wide outsole that gives dynamic flexibility and power with an aid by the cleat-inspired carbon heel counter for total stability where it locks you in during every swing. The aggressive traction made with Champ Zarma Tour spikes that features the Slim-Lok System will additionally give the Under Armour golfer superior traction for maximum torque.

At the launch held yesterday, we were privileged to meet Malaysia’s top golfer, Nicholas Fung, the official ambassador of Under Armour in Malaysia (another is Jordan Spieth) for the second year now.

How does it feel to be one of the top golfers in Malaysia?

I am really proud that I represent Malaysia in many golf competitions. However, I still feel that I can do better and be one of the best golfers in the world. My aim is to win the PGA Tour.

What has being an Under Armour ambassador done for you?

When I was approached by Under Armour to be their ambassador, I felt really honoured, excited and privileged that I was chosen among all the other golfers in Malaysia. They have really supported me in every way throughout my whole time with them by assisting in my needs as a golfer.

What is your advice to aspiring golfers out there?

Don’t stress too much when you start to learn. Everyone starts somewhere and take small steps; ‘learn to walk before you run’. There is no shortcut to learn something where it all takes effort and determination. A proper coach will help as well.

So how does Under Armour feel about going against the big boys in the industry? With new technology (in shoes and apparel) combined with their determination and brand power, they believe can go far. Already they are looking to launch more models in the next season.

As a matter of raising your adrenaline, only a quarter of the newly launched 400 pairs allocated for Southeast Asia is for Malaysia. Selling-out is just a matter of time.
