Maldivian Treasure

Discovering an opulent world far from the ordinary.

When designer extraordinaire Jean-Michel Gathy has a hand in a hotel space, you know it will not be nothing less than affluence maximus. Exhibit umpteen: the Owner’s Villa at The Cheval Blanc Randheli by LVMH in Maldives, a secluded island sanctuary accessible only through a private berth from the Maison’s main island.

Having already designed the parent resort of Cheval Blanc Randheli, the architect’s involvement in the latest addition was only natural, and he brings forth the sumptuous aesthetics very much identified to his name to this new luxury villa as well. The Owner’s Villa is a true tropical getaway that does not compromise a drop of comfort, adapting itself perfectly to the lush green surroundings and giving guests the freedom of an utterly private home, with all the services of the Maison.

Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston – his Kuala Lumpur-based design firm – shares his idea behind the exceptional four-bedroom villa. “Luxury doesn’t have to be plush; it can be totally understated. There are many ways to define luxury. Here, it’s all about space and privacy – and there’s nothing more luxurious than that.”

The main house runs alongside a stunning 25-metre-long swimming pool that frames the magnificent views over the surrounding seascape. Stepping inside the house, three light filled living rooms invite to a grand piano for the musically-inclined, as well as a bar for making the perfect cocktails. The adjoining private dining room, on the other hand, is catered for by the Villa’s dedicated chefs and butlers, delighting guests with the fresh catch from the day, abundant local delicacies or guests’ favourite dishes which can be easily prepared.

On the ground floor, two spacious bedrooms are equipped with their own indoor bathroom, outdoor shower and terraces. A statement staircase, with a needle-fish inspired hand-rail, leads up to the master floor, which offers the resort’s only panoramic birds eye views. Fine crafts, bespoke furniture and individual artworks enhance the tasteful interior design throughout the master suite’s living rooms, drawing room and spacious his and hers dressing rooms and bathrooms, adding to the suite’s sense of place and exclusivity.

For those seeking an almost unprecedented level of privacy in comfort, a separate guest villa lies along a short pathway through the lush vegetation on the island grounds. This beautiful beachfront villa has a spacious bedroom, large living areas including an outdoor dining pergola and a cinema for private screenings.

Outside, an array of terraces, tropical gardens and pristine private beaches await guests for an unparalleled display of turquoise waters offering one of the world’s most astounding underwater experiences. Set amidst the gardens, the Villa’s private spa offers exclusive treatments by Guerlain in a double treatment room or on the terraces, where guests may also practice yoga and Pilates with the Maison’s yoga master.

At any time, guests may embark in one of the Villa’s dedicated dhonis for a short sail over to the Maison’s main island, where they can enjoy its diverse dining options or hop over to the dedicated Spa island for treatments beyond those available by the Owner’s Villa.
