From Florida, with love.
If you’re in Pavilion KL and you’re famished, head up to the sixth floor and get yourself a hearty meal at TR Fire Grill. The sister brand to the Tony Roma’s dining chain, this is the first TR Fire Grill outside of the US, and is the third outlet worldwide.
Talk about exclusivity.

Whereas Tony Roma’s is more rib-centric, TR Fire Grill leans more towards seasonal artisanally-creative American fare. That said, almost all the ingredients used are sourced locally, and recipes are adapted to suit Malaysian palates. In fact, according to Executive Chef Mohamad Bashir, the ingredients are so easy to obtain, you can actually try your hand at reproducing the menu at home.

X and Y of TR Fire Grill
In terms of food selection, there’s something for everybody – you can stick to the usual burger or ribeye steak, or you can go off the beaten path and test your tastebuds with dishes like:
-
- chicken and waffles (note: consume them both at the same time, not one after the after. Please and thank you);
- salmon and zoodles (zoodles = zucchini pasta);
Or, if you’re down for brunch, try the
- steak and eggs (the brunch for champions); and
- shrimp and grits (it’s got an enjoyable spicy kick to it).
Finally, for dessert, cap the proceedings with Chocolate Mayhem, which most definitely lives up to its name. It comprises chocolate cake with coconut caramel sauce, flanked by coffee and chocolate ice creams, surrounded by chocolate mousse, Snickers bars and chocolate espresso beans. Note: go for the large one, and keep it to yourself. Go big or go home.

So, if you crave brunch, you now know where to head to.
Alternatively, if a good chicken chop is what you prefer, you may find what you seek here.
