The neighbourhood bar to visit for some spicy food with your drink.

In the Klang Valley and other urban parts of the country, it is common for there to be a neighbourhood bar, a safe haven for residents to get together and unwind after a long day or week. Believe it or not, even a commercialised centre of attention like Bangsar still has a hidden spot for the locals to catch up over a cold beer and some spicy mutton varuval, and that place is The Enclave at Lorong Kurau, Bangsar.

Before I get ahead of myself talking about the gastrobar’s amazing menu, let me describe a bit about The Enclave’s rustic interior lined with photos of old Malaysia, snapshots of back when Malaysia was entirely different. This is to serve as a window for the expatriate clientele of The Enclave who enjoy these images as much as the locals do. The exposed brick wall façade adds to the feel of the ambience and definitely deserves your literal touch.

As for the food, The Enclave has a little bit of everything. Be it Western or Asian, mild or spicy, the bistro gets everything on the menu right. The simple but well-thought out menu complements the choice of drinks perfectly too.

The Enclave in Bangsar is the first of the chain, with the follow up having appeared in Damansara Kim. Do expect to see more of the bar in a neighbourhood near you very soon!
