And he left everyone — me included — awe-inspired.
To be honest, I’ve never been to any concert before. Not that I didn’t want to, it’s simply because I have watched quite many of my favourite artists suck at performing live and I’m not that willing to spend my money just to get disappointed by the poor stage performance. Now, I do still addicted listening to their well-tuned studio version songs and I listen to most of them every now and then. And I like to keep it that way. Well, at least until my friend Kamini talked to me about Charlie Puth’s Voicenotes Tour Concert in Malaysia.
Those who know me well know that I am really a big fan of Charlie Puth. Though at first, I doubted that Charlie Puth was going to be any different than any other favourite artists of mine, but I’d decided to go with my friend to the concert – and I’m glad that I did.
Despite the fact that it was raining and we stucked in the traffic for about 45 minutes, we made it in time to the concert. We made our way through security and to our UMobile Zone which was a standing area in the middle and the nearest to the stage. We waited for about 15 minutes before Puth made his first appearance, kicked off his Voicenotes Tour with The Way I Am. And thereafter, like everyone else in the stadium, I was in awe of every single performance.
It was obvious that every single fan in the stadium wanted to be there to support Charlie. They were singing along, dancing to the songs and having a good time with everyone else around them. When the entire stadium started singing along together to One Call Away, it felt like being a part of the biggest and best choir you could ever be in.
Charlie closed the show with my personal favourite, Boy and everyone’s favourite, See You Again.
After the concert, it all seemed very surreal to me, and it still is. From his spot-on vocals to the unique set-up of the stage, Charlie had proven to me that there are singers who can really sing well — both in the studio and on stage. On top of that, the fact that he did not skip over the fan favourites from his debut LP, 2016’s Nine Track Mind was indeed a thoughtful one.
To simply put, it was — undoubtedly — a night to remember. And he left everyone — me included — awe-inspired.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the official sponsor Umobile Malaysia for making last night possible.
